BSF seized a total of 841 kg of drugs along the western border with Pakistan in 2023, with Rajasthan experiencing a four-fold increase compared to the previous year. The rise in drone seizures, used for smuggling drugs and weapons, was significant despite the deployment of anti-drone systems. The traffickers have adapted by flying smaller drones with lighter payloads. Most drones are of Chinese make. An indigenous anti-drone system will be installed in six months. BSF also apprehended more individuals on the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan borders in 2023.
