Schools up to class 5 in Delhi to remain closed for next 5 days amid cold wave

Delhi schools from Nursery to Class 5 will be closed for the next five days due to ongoing cold weather conditions. The Delhi government extended the winter break until January 10, but later rescinded the order. Delhi, parts of East Rajasthan, northwest Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab experienced a cold day to severe cold day with no sunlight. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts cold to severe cold conditions in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Temperatures are significantly below normal, with minimum temperatures ranging from 6-15°C and maximum temperatures ranging from 9-16°C. North India is expected to experience rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms from January 8th to 10th. Rehearsals for the Republic Day parade took place in the cold and foggy weather. No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected in North India for the next four days.
