Poor people’s accounts being used to park siphoned funds
Online fraudsters target even poor individuals, luring them to park siphoned funds. In a recent case, a senior citizen in Mumbai was duped of nearly Rs 4.4 crore. The fraudsters claimed to be representatives of EPFO and promised a corpus of Rs 11 crore. They managed to siphon off Rs 4.4 crore from the victim's account. Police have arrested one individual and recovered Rs 80 lakh so far.
