Transvision Production Company has approached the Bombay High Court to urge the State government to decide on implementing the Maharashtra Casinos (Control and Tax) Act, 1976. The company states that despite the bill being passed 47 years ago, the Act has not been notified or enforced. The Act allows for the licensing of casinos, regulation of games, and taxation of participants' stakes. Transvision's petition highlights the inaction of the executive, which has resulted in individuals facing criminal prosecution under the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887.
