HC to BMC: Take prompt action to remove illegal hawkers in Kamathipura once residents file complaint

The Bombay high court has directed the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to promptly address the concerns raised by residents who filed a PIL against illegal encroachments by hawkers in Kamathipura area. The residents had been complaining about hawkers occupying the pavements and causing inconvenience since 2018. Despite continuous complaints, no action has been taken by the civic authorities. The court has now instructed the residents to submit a detailed representation to the BMC, including all relevant documents.
