Central Railway’s Fog Safety device ensures safety during low visibility
Central Railway has introduced the Fog Safety Device (FSD) to enhance the safety of train operations during foggy weather. The FSD utilizes GPS technology to provide advance notification to Loco pilots about upcoming signals. It also displays the description of the next signal and the distance between the locomotive and the signal. The device covers all signals and level crossing gates through GPS mapping. By announcing signal names 500 meters before their location, Loco Pilots are prompted to be more vigilant. The FSD allows for a maximum speed of up to 75 kmph, minimizing train detention periods and enhancing punctuality.
