Delhi-NCR air pollution: Non-essential construction work, polluting four-wheelers banned

The Central government imposed a ban on non-essential construction work and the operation of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers in Delhi-NCR due to the deteriorating air quality. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) attributed the spike in Delhi's air quality to unfavorable meteorological conditions. Delhi's overall AQI has reached 409, leading to restrictions on construction work, stone crushing, and mining. However, exemptions are granted for construction work related to national security, healthcare, and transportation. The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) categorizes actions based on AQI, with Stage III being 'Severe'.
