Supreme Court refuses to stay Krishna Janmabhoomi survey order

The Supreme Court refused to stay the Allahabad high court's order for a commission to survey Mathura's Shahi Idgah Mosque adjoining the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple. The high court fixed December 18 as the next date for finalizing the modalities. The petition, filed by the deity and others, claims that Lord Sri Krishna's birthplace lies beneath the mosque and presents evidence such as a lotus-shaped pillar and the presence of a 'Sheshnaag' image. The commission was requested to submit a report within a stipulated time period.
