Census to shed light on ‘Memon’ legacy, empower sub-community

Iqbal Memon 'Officer', president of All India Memon Jamat Federation (AIMJF), is conducting a survey to assess the socio-economic and educational condition of the Memon community. The survey, conducted through the 'memonid' app, aims to gather data on the community's population, demographics, and needs. The Memon community originated from Lohana Hindus in Sindh and embraced Islam in the 16th century. The community, known for its business acumen, has a global presence with an estimated 3.5 million members worldwide. The survey has revealed professionals such as doctors, CAs, architects, pilots, judges, and retired IAS officers within the community. Efforts will be made to encourage young Memons to appear for civil services exams. The survey will also help identify families in need of housing and healthcare support.
