Malabar Hill tank emptied 2nd time in 6 years for checks

A massive inspection took place at the Malabar Hill Reservoir, a historic structure facing reconstruction challenges. The reservoir, dating back to 1887, supplies water to south Mumbai. It was emptied for scrutiny by a team including experts from IIT Bombay. The inspection assessed the stability of compartments 2A and 2B, with examinations of the remaining compartments pending. The BMC is considering a Rs 698-crore plan to demolish the Hanging Gardens and rebuild the reservoir.
