Sweet diplomacy turns sour at the international borders with Pakistan in Punjab

The exchange of sweets between the border guarding forces of India and Pakistan on religious and national significance days has diminished. While the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets and greetings on Eid, the Pakistani Rangers did not show up for Diwali. A senior BSF official expressed disappointment and said that the Pakistani Rangers are deviating from established customs. The lack of exchange is concerning for maintaining positive relations at the border.
