Delhi Air Pollution: An unexpected bonus this Chhoti Diwali

Delhi may experience cleaner air during Diwali this year due to increased wind speed and favorable meteorological conditions. In 2022, the city had its cleanest Chhoti Diwali in seven years with an AQI of 259. Although the pre-Diwali AQI is one of the best recorded in Delhi, it is slightly higher than last year. The wind speed is expected to rise slightly on Saturday but drop to 10kmph or below by Diwali on Sunday. However, the air quality is forecasted to deteriorate to the 'very poor' and 'severe' categories after Diwali.
