'It could mean anything': Mizoram CM Zoramthanga on high voter turnout

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has said that despite inadequate police and armed forces deployment, the state assembly elections were conducted peacefully. He stated that even the presence of a single policeman in a polling booth is enough to ensure peaceful elections in Mizoram. The Chief Minister also mentioned that due to issues with electronic voting machines, polling in some seats continued until 9 pm, but he estimated the voter turnout to be close to 80%. He emphasized that the high voter turnout does not necessarily indicate an inclination for change in the ruling party.
