No more scramble for baggage trays: T1 to get high-tech X-ray machines

The expanded Terminal 1 at IGI Airport in New Delhi may be the first to receive 3D computed tomography X-ray (CTX) machines for cabin bag checks. These scanners eliminate the need for passengers to remove electronic devices and liquids from their bags, improving the overall security check process. Trial runs for CTX will begin in two weeks at the new T2 at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. Airport operators are evaluating the capacity and logistics of the technology, and the first set of machines is expected to be ordered soon.
