Farmers' interest paramount, will not sit idly to cling to power: Karnataka CM to Cauvery agitators
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated that his government will prioritize drinking water needs and sustaining crops over releasing water to Tamil Nadu as directed by the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC). Siddaramaiah assured farmers that their interests would not be sacrificed for political power. Karnataka is currently facing a severe drought. The CWRC has recommended that Karnataka release 2,600 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu from November 1 to 15.
