Officially, Mumbai won't have Premier Padmini cabs from tomorrow

The iconic Premier Padmini black-and-yellow taxis, a symbol of Mumbai, will be driven off the roads officially on Monday. The last Premier Padmini taxi was registered in 2003 and is now reaching its 20-year age limit. Transport enthusiasts are saddened by the end of an era and are calling for at least one taxi to be preserved in a museum. The Premier Padmini model started as the Fiat-1100 Delight in 1964 and was rebranded as Premier President and then Premier Padmini.
