A marriage registrar in Maharashtra, India has been suspended after a disability rights activist, Virali Modi, had to be carried up two flights of stairs to register her marriage. The registrar, Arun Ghodekar, allegedly refused to come down to collect Modi's signature, stating that he needed his computer to complete the registration process. The state government has suspended Ghodekar pending a full inquiry, while Modi has called for greater accessibility in public buildings.
