A grid plan that can watch and check NCR pollution

Scientists at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) are developing a grid-based strategy to monitor and mitigate air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. The strategy involves dividing the NCR into small grids called Local Area Management Plans (LAMP), and using a network of sensors to monitor each area. NEERI has already conducted tests in Wazirpur and is now working in Siri Fort and Bahadurgarh. The approach aims to address air pollution at a local level, taking into account the specific requirements of each area. The findings from the study in Wazirpur indicated high levels of PM2.5 pollution, with road dust and industries identified as prominent sources. The developed framework can assist regulatory agencies and urban local bodies in managing air quality at the local level.
