Centre Proposes Bill to Replace CJI with Union Minister in Selection Panel for Appointing CEC, ECs
The government moved the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023, in the Rajya Sabha today, and wants the PM, who is the chairperson of the selection committee, which also has Leader of Opposition as member, to replace the CJI with a Union minister
