Controversial Delhi services bill passed in Lok Sabha amid walkout by Opposition

The opposition INDIA alliance walked out of the Lok Sabha when voting on the bill took place.

The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, which would replace the Delhi services ordinance.

The bill gives control over services in Delhi to the Centre.

Meanwhile, the Opposition INDIA alliance walked out of the Lok Sabha when voting on the bill took place. 

The bill to replace the Delhi services ordinance is constitutionally valid and is for the benefit of the people of the national capital, Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha. 

He also said that once the Delhi services ordinance is passed, the opposition alliance will collapse.

Reacting to the passing of the bill in the Lok Sabha, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP has stabbed the people of Delhi in the back.
