Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Kargil War Memorial and paid tribute to soldiers who died in the Kargil War of 1999. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute in a tweet. Kargil Vijay Diwas is marked every year to honour the bravery and valour of the Kargil War heroes who led Operation Vijay, resulting in the triumph of the Indian Armed Forces. The 24th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated with an event conducted at Lamochen (Dras). War heroes, Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and relatives of the soldiers who died in the war were present at the event.
