PM to address election rally in Ajmer today

The visit will mark Modi’s fourth trip to Rajasthan in a year. Observers say afterthe BJP’s defeat in Karnataka Assembly elections, the party is doesn’t want to take any risks.

JAIPUR:  To commemorate the 9th anniversary and to garner support leading up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the initiative with a grand rally in Ajmer, Rajasthan, on Wednesday.

The choice of Ajmer in poll-bound Rajasthan to kickstart the celebrations is interesting as the BJP had lost a majority of the Assembly seats in the neighbouring districts in the 2018 elections. State BJP sources told TNIE that the party is mobilising 2 lakh workers from across eight parliamentary constituencies for the rally. "It is a show of strength as this is PM's first rally in Rajasthan from where he will kickstart the state campaign," a state BJP leader said.

BJP workers from 45 Assembly constituencies in seven neighbouring districts (Ajmer, Tonk, Nagaur, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Jaipur and Pali) will be attending the rally.
