Maharashtra's April Covid toll is highest in 6 months

The surge in Covid-19 cases and fatalities in April led to 72 deaths, the highest number of deaths seen in the last six months. This was a stark increase compared to the 20 deaths reported in March and none in February. In fact, since September, the state has not witnessed such a high number of Covid-19 related deaths. However, there is some good news. There has been a decrease in the number of Covid-19 patients in the state this week, particularly in the districts reporting higher cases. According to the Directorate of Health Services, the weekly positivity rate has decreased from 6.3 to 4.3.
