Coastal Road work resumes in Mumbai; new deadline now May 2024
The BMC has pushed the deadline for completion of the Mumbai Coastal Road project to May 2024. Initially, the coastal road was supposed to be ready by November 2023, but tunnelling work was halted for three months after a part of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) got damaged. Civic officials said they could resume work only last week after the TBM's spare part, which is available only in Italy, arrived.
