Over 6% of India's operational industries (4,40,989) currently don't comply with one or the other environmental standards, risking air, water and soils due to emissions and discharge of effluents carrying various pollutants, shows a compilation on non-compliant industries and actions taken against them over the years by state pollution control boards.
