Ooty: Uprooted trees played havoc with traffic as heavy rains lashed the Ketti valley area near here on Monday night.
The good summer showers lashing the hills have brought immense relief from the scorching heat wave over the past three months. On Monday night it was the turn of
Ketti to receive good rains, which pounded that valley, a blend of tea and vegetable fields.
It also saw low-lying areas in Ketti village and the Ketti Palada sector becoming water logged for a while due to storm water that was gushing down from the Valley
View point slopes down to the Ketti valley. The gusty winds accompanying the thunder showers changed the face of the valley. On Tuesday morning, a couple of trees along the Ketti-Palada road were uprooted as the water soaked soil along the road there could not withstand the weight and pressure of the huge eucalyptus trees there. Rescue teams reached the spot , removed the trees and enabled vehicular traffic to resume.
