Rajahmundry: For Rajahmundry Parliamentary seat, nominees of both YSR Congress Margani Bharat Ram and Jana Sena's Akula Satyanara-yana claim to be locals while Telugu Desam's Maganti Rupa is seen as non-local.
The nominees have been visiting the seven Assembly constituencies including Anapar-thi, Rajanagaram, Rajahmundry City, Rajahmundry Rural, Kovvur, Nidadavole and Gopalapuram braving the scorching heat to seek votes.
TD nominee Maganti Rupa entered the fray after her father-in-law and MP Maganti Murali Mohan withdrew from the contest reportedly on health grounds. She approaches the voters with folded hands seeking their support and promising them to develop the constituency. Women voters offer her 'aarati' and wish the leader good luck.
Maganti Rupa said, "I am confident of victory because people show a lot of trust in me and expect me to make their voice in Parliament and get developmental projects for the segment sanctioned."
YSR Congress nominee Margani Bharat Ram played a lead role in Telugu film Oye Ninne in 2017 before entering the fray. He is a political novice but takes up campaign aggressively reaching out to people with assurance on providing them a series of benefits.
His agenda for Rajahmundry Parliamentary constituency includes development of a long elevated flyover connecting Lalacheruvu to Vemagiri on NH-16 similar on the lines of P.V. Narasimha Rao Expressway instead of several flyovers to help overcome increasing number of road accidents at junctions. He wants to develop an artificial lake in Godavari river and to construct an international stadium and develop a badminton academy of international standards. He also wants to develop Havelock bridge to facilitate heritage walk and other amenities and Pitchuka Lanka to promote tourism and intends to set up a Dolphin Nose like structure to attract even international tourists in Rajahmundry.
Mr Ram said, "I have come up with a proposal to develop a series of facilities of international standards in Rajahmundry and other places in the segment after taking approval from our party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy so that once our party comes to power, we can take them up expeditiously. I want to see Rajahmundry on international tourism map attracting a large number of international tourists visit which in turn generate employment and revenue."
Jana Sena nominee and former BJP MLA Dr Akula Satyanaryana is hitting the roads with renewed vigor to reach out to the people with a promise to a lot of development in the segment. As he represented Rajahmundry City in the Assembly representing BJP, he is familiar with all issues in the city and other areas.
He said, "There is severe unemployment in some parts in the segment and it is my first priority to address it by facilitating setting up more number of industrial units which can use local resources. Though an MLA, I worked like an MP, getting sanctions of land for agriculture college and getting benefits to local tribals from Rubber Board. The TD MP even failed to spend the MPLads sanctioned for the segment.”
