Chennai beauty has international aspirations

Apurvi Saini, 21, recently bagged the title of ‘Rubaru Face of Beauty International India 2019’ in the grand national final of ‘Rubaru Miss India Elite 2019’ held in Delhi. She is now chasing her international dream. She came to Chennai three and a half years back to pursue her B.Tech in computer engineering and became a Chennaiite at heart as she began falling in love with the city.

On her first attempt, she got rejected at her college fashion club, which is when she decided to give it a better shot and that’s how her journey into beauty pageants began. She went on to beat 20 other participants from all over the country at the Rubaru pageant. She will be representing India in Philippines at the ‘Face of Beauty’ pageant which will happen at the end of this year.

She belongs to Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur but got pretty accustomed to travelling to different cities due to her father’s transferrable job. Her travel broadened her mind to a mix of cultures. “With this title I would like to make my country, my parents and myself proud and my only aim now is to dream bigger every day and win people’s hearts,” Apurvi shares.

Talking about how she got chosen at the beauty pageant, she says it is the power of communication and the right attitude. Anyone who aspires to be a ‘Miss India’ can become that if she can first explore herself properly.

Apurvi who started modelling career at the age of 19 would like to encourage girls to follow their passion and dream big for themselves. “Through my Rubaru Miss India elite achievement, I would like to encourage young girls in Chennai to follow their passion and always dream big for themselves. I would like to start modelling workshops where I would be able to teach aspiring girls about modelling and create awareness about the same. And I am hoping through these efforts I can see many girls from Chennai going for pageants and making their nation proud,” Apurvi says.

Since childhood, topics like poverty and women abuse used to draw her attention and she felt the need to do something to eradicate these problems from the society. And she decided to join the NGO ‘Hind towards Change’ to help the people. Whether it was matter of sanitary pads distribution in rural areas or helping raise funds for people affected in Kerala floods, she was willing to step up. Because she believes that small actions can lead to a bigger change in the society, she hopes she can contribute to the nation through her social work in the future.

She had been to many pageants and won titles like ‘Reliance Jewels Miss India Chennai’. She had gone for the south zonals of Rubaru Miss South India and was crowned as the first runner up. Apart from pageants she has also walked the ramp for a few prominent brands.

“I am an avid writer as its one of my hidden talents (smiles). I love to read books and I am passionate about singing, dancing and playing badminton,” shares Apurvi while talking about her hobbies. Her further plans would include seeing herself on the big screen with her favourite television personalities. “I am also working on my acting skills and would like to see myself on the big screen someday,” she added. But the long term goal can get the multitalented emerging as a scientist and she still believes in ‘balancing the both sides of life and career’.
