Over a year since his film ‘Padmaavat’ hit screens, actor Shahid Kapoor, who played the role of Maharaj Rawal Ratan Singh opposite Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji and Deepika Padukone, has shared his thoughts about another trio who could have pulled off the lead roles. In a candid chat with Neha Dhupia, the actor said that the ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ trio - Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ajay Devgn would work well in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. The actor was asked who he would recast as the three leads of ‘Padmaavat’, to which he replied, "Actually, the cast of 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' would work well for that film as well." Bhansali's ‘Padmaavat’ was based on 16th-century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's poem ‘Padmavat’. After much delays and controversies that lead to court cases, the film finally released in January 2018 and won the director a National Award, apart from also raking in the moolah at the box office.
