Actor turned filmmaker Ganesh Babu who won critical acclaim for his debut direction Yamuna is all set with his next, titled Kattil (cot). Celebrated multiple national award-winning editor and filmmaker B.Lenin collaborates with Ganesh writing the story, screenplay and dialogues.
Speaking to DC, Ganesh says, “My association with Lenin sir started from the days I acted in a role in national award winning film Bharathi, which was edited by him. Later, I also did a crucial role in his direction Oorukku Nooruper. He was the editor for my directorial venture Yamuna. This story of him was fascinating and I am honoured to be associated with him.’
Why this title we ask? “Emotional connect is not restricted to human beings or animals or other living creatures. It is even there for non-living things like how we develop an emotional attachment to bicycles, cars etc. Here in Kattil, it is my lead protagonist’s (who is rooted to his tradition and culture) emotional bond that he associates with his Kattil — cot, which has seen three generations of the family. He would never want to part with it, but as such a situation arises the trauma he undergoes forms the crux.” He adds they are still in the process of finalising the cast and crew for Kattil set in a semi urban setting, he adds.
