Goa pushes for the inclusion of sign languages in schools

Goa is making efforts to incorporate sign language into education and daily life to promote inclusivity and understanding. The Indian Sign Language Interpreters Association (ISLIA) suggests introducing sign language as an optional school subject and providing training programs for offices and companies. The Department of Social Welfare and the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities are raising awareness and coordinating sign language interpreters for their programs. Learning sign language can help foster comprehension and inclusivity, bridging the gap between the Deaf and hearing communities. The Chief Justice of India has also appointed a sign-language interpreter in courtrooms to assist hearing-impaired lawyers and litigants.
