UG students have to do internships, will be awarded credits: New draft UGC guidelines

According to new draft guidelines from the University Grants Commission (UGC), undergraduate students in India will be required to complete internships and earn credits for them. The guidelines are in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the importance of research and internships in undergraduate education. The internships will be mandatory for students in three-year and four-year degree programs, with a duration of 60 to 120 hours. The guidelines also suggest the creation of different verticals, such as trade and agriculture, information technology, and healthcare, for students to choose from for their internships.
