WFME accreditation opens doors to global medical careers for Indian medical graduates

The World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) has recognized the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, allowing Indian medical graduates to pursue postgraduate training and practice medicine in countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The NMC, which replaced the Medical Council of India, is the governing body for medical education and regulation in the country. The recognition is valid for 10 years. Indian students can now apply to the Education Commission on Foreign Medical Education and the United States Medical Licensing Examination.
