Haryana's new "Compassionate Appointment Policy" widens the scope of compassionate appointments to provide support to the bereaved family members of martyrs who have lost their lives in a diverse range of circumstances for the nation. The policy covers eligibility for dependents of battle casualties, including those killed in IED blasts, terrorist or militant attacks, border skirmishes, UN peacekeeping missions, accidents, cardiac arrests, air crashes, and natural calamities.
