NTPC-Simhadri has initiated a four-week workshop called Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) for girls aged 10-12 years from the neighbouring government schools of NTPC-Simhadri plant, Parawada in Anakapalle district. GEM will provide training in self-defense, yoga, basic English, Hindi, maths, science, general knowledge, life science, dance, drama, music, arts, and crafts. According to Ramesh Babu V, Director (Operations), the purpose of the program is to enable the girls to lead a significant life, add value to their families, broaden their horizons, and improve their social, emotional, and thinking skills.
