Govt issues revised order to allow use of sugarcane juice for making ethanol in 2023-24

The Food Ministry has issued a fresh order overturning the recent ban on using sugarcane juice for ethanol production. The revised directive allows the use of both sugarcane juice and B-heavy molasses to produce green fuel in the 2023-24 supply year, aiming to ensure adequate sugar supply and stabilize prices. Oil marketing companies will issue a revised allocation to each distillery, and any diversion for other purposes is strictly prohibited.
