Amazon India to soon ship packages through inland waterways

Amazon has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) to explore the use of inland waterways for shipping customer packages in India. The partnership aims to tap into cost-efficient and sustainable means of transportation for deliveries. Amazon plans to initiate a pilot run on the Patna to Kolkata waterways to test the viability of using inland waterways for deliveries in water-locked areas. This collaboration adds to Amazon's existing logistics partnerships with the Indian Railways and India Post.
