Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited Tesla's manufacturing facility in California and announced that the company plans to double its auto components imports from India. This is significant as there are reports that India is considering customs duty concessions for Tesla to set up a plant in the country. In September, Goyal stated that Tesla is looking to source components worth around $1.9 billion from India this year. The government has rolled out production-linked incentives schemes for advanced chemistry cells and the auto industry to support the growth of electric vehicles.
