At ₹1.7 lakh crore, GST mop-up surges to 2nd highest ever as imports recover

Goods and services tax (GST) collections in India increased by 13.4% to Rs 1,72,003 crore, the second-highest ever. The growth was driven by a rebound in imports. Except for Manipur and Himachal Pradesh, all other states reported healthy growth. Domestic GST collections were 13% higher, with central GST rising by 15.4% and state GST by 14.3%. Integrated GST on inter-state sales and imports saw an 11.7% increase. Analysts expect robust numbers next month due to the festive season.
