India bars cabin crew from using mouthwash and drugs with alcohol to prevent false tipsy test report

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India has issued a new rule that prohibits crew members from using mouthwash, tooth gel, drugs, or any product with alcohol content to avoid testing positive in breath analyser tests. Maintenance personnel will also be subjected to these tests before operating aircraft. The rule applies to all operators and requires pre-flight or post-flight BA examinations. Crew members who test positive or miss these tests will face suspension of their license or approval for varying durations.
