ITR filing by individuals grows 90 per cent to 6.37 crore in AY 2021-22
The income tax department announced that individual taxpayers have increased by 90% in the past 8 years, with 6.37 crore returns filed in AY 2021-22. The number of returns filed by individuals with gross total income between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh increased by 295% during this period. Additionally, there has been a 291% increase in returns filed by individuals with gross total income between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 25 lakh. The data indicates a positive trend of migration to higher income ranges.
