ISMA seeks long-tem policy, formula for ethanol price to encourage investment in capacity expansion

The Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) has called for a long-term policy and formula for ethanol pricing in order to encourage mills to expand capacity by 400 crore litres, requiring an estimated investment of Rs 17,500 crore. ISMA also wants the minimum selling price of sugar to be increased from Rs 31 per kg to Rs 38 per kg. The association will release a fresh sugar production estimate for the 2023-24 marketing year in November. ISMA aims to increase ethanol blending with petrol to 20% by 2025.
