The punctuality of mail and express trains has declined to 73 per cen in the current financial year, down by 11 per cent compared to the previous year. The speed of freight trains has also decreased to 27.5 kmph, leading to a slight increase in freight loading by 1 per cent. Railway authorities attribute this decline to track maintenance and construction projects.
