Don't camouflage stress, extend loans for reasonable period: Shaktikanta Das to banks
India's Reserve Bank Governor, Shaktikanta Das, has called on banks not to "camouflage" stress and extend loans only for a reasonable period of time. The borrower's age and ability to repay must be considered, whilst extending loan tenors, he said. Retail loans including long-tenor housing loans, have been extended to longer periods due to rate hikes imposed by the RBI.
