Edible oil imports rise by 39.31 per cent to 13.11 lakh tonnes in June on high demand

India's edible oil imports increased by 39.31% YoY in June 2022 to reach 13.11 lakh tonnes due to higher demand, according to Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA). The overall imports of vegetable oils, including both edible and non-edible varieties, grew by 49%, with non-edible oils making up 2,900 tonnes of the total. Despite a reduction in domestic prices of edible oils, demand has returned and imports have risen.
