US Fed official calls for increase to bank capital requirements

Michael Barr, the Federal Reserve's vice-chair for supervision, has proposed a series of measures to reinforce banking oversight. These include increasing capital requirements for large US banks with over $100bn in assets, including mid-sized institutions, as well as introducing a long-term debt requirement for all large banks.
