India needs a robust regulatory data protection framework to counteract consumer mistrust. Sensitive personal information people routinely provide, including bank details and insurance data, must be secure, particularly in regard to its pace of digitisation. The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Bill 2022, which addresses data protection legislation that contains citizens' rights, was released to the public for consultation in November 2022.
