India's Minister for Steel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has stated that India must increase the amount of vehicle scrap used in steelmaking to reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, Scindia noted concerns about injuries to the Indian domestic steel industry due to imports. However, he highlighted that India is still a net exporter of steel, and the country needs to increase its volume of steel scrap recycling to meet the challenging goal of decarbonising while also expanding steel capacity.
