Economic growth surprised on the upside in 2022-23, buoyed by momentum in the last quarter of the year. At 7.2%, India remains the fastest-growing major economy for the second year running, after clocking 9.1% in 2021-22. On current projections of 6.5% GDP growth in 2023-24, it could be headed for a hat-trick.
