AAI back on profitable runway; reports Rs 3,400 crore profit in 2022-23 fiscal

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has reported a profit of Rs 3,400 crore for the fiscal year ended March 2023, primarily due to high growth in domestic air traffic. This marks a significant improvement, as in the previous two financial years, AAI had reported losses. The growth in domestic air passenger traffic has been impressive, with a 47.05% surge to 12.32 crore in 2022 compared to 8.38 crore the previous year. AAI manages 137 airports, including 24 international and 80 domestic airports, and provides air traffic management services over entire Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas.
